Rationale and Stakeholder View

Welcome to this EduExchange.  I am pleased to serve as Moderator for this discussion.  The "Biography"posted under "EduExchange" provides some information about me.  I currently serve as Director of the School of Education and Deputy Dean, Faculty of Humanities and Education, Mona Campus, University of the West Indies (UWI). I served as a member of a team of persons from the Mona Campus of the UWI engaged in discussions with representatives of USAID and the Knowledge-Driven Microenterprise Development (KDMD), which was responsible for the implementation of the Community of Practice (CoP) Project, about finding a new home base for the Community of Practice (CoP).  The objective of these discussions was to assure the sustainability of the CoP after the close-out of its management by KDMD. The School of Education has agreed to assume responsibility for the sustainability of the initiative, with the understanding that the CoP will be broadened to consider not only basic education issues, but also a range of other issues pertaining to various levels of the education system which can benefit from discussion in the Community. The School of Education would also like to benefit from discussions about the work in which the University is involved and to engage in dialogue on a wide range of educational issues requiring attention.  We hope to expand the Community to include students and university graduates.  Essentially, we hope to have periodic discussions on a number of issues which would help in understanding, and responding to, a number of critical issues in education which must be addressed. We look forward to your continued participation in the exchanges and to your support as the School of Education takes on the new role of providing a home base for the CoP.
