Master Of Arts In Library And Information Studies
Objective
The objective of the programme is to provide graduates of the BA (Library and Information Studies) programme with the opportunity to upgrade their qualifica-tions to meet the demands of the modern information environment.
Admission
Admission to the programme will normally require:
* At least a Lower second class honours degree BA (Library and Information Studies)
* Appropriate work experience
Duration
The formal programme will normally last for three semesters full-time and six semesters part-time.
PROGRAMME
The student will be required to read six semester courses, and write a re-search paper of 10,000—15,000 words.

Each candidate for the Master of Arts in Library and Information Studies
will be required to pursue a course of study as set out below.

LIBS6501 (LS65A)—Information Technology I
LIBS6901 (LS69A)—Trends and Issues in Library and Information Work
SEMESTER II (3 credits each)
LIBS6401 (LS64A)—Research Methodology for Information Specialists
LIBS6502 (LS65B)—Information Technology II
LIBS6603 (LS66C)—Multimedia Librarianship OR
LIBS6703 (LS67C)—Archives and Records Management OR
LIBS6801 (LS68A)—Copyright Issues Affecting Caribbean Libraries & Information Services OR
One (1) course from other departments or faculties with the approval of DLIS.
Optional courses will be offered as resources permit.
A research paper of between 10,000—15,000 words
