2. Can I select an additional Major or Minor from another Department/Faculty?
NO. Once you are doing one of our programmes you cannot do another major/minor.

3. How do I change my Major?
- Log into Online Records and request a ‘Change of Major’.
- Seek approval from HOD
- Once departmental approval is given; students should seek final approval from the Dean’s Office.
Please note that only persons with a B+ average in their current programme will be considered, However this is based on the capacity of the desired programme you wish to enter.

4. Why do I have courses in the day and I am part-time?
‘Part-Time’ means that a student is allowed to register for 24 credits for the year. Classes for students are timetabled for both day and evening.

This is your work to date. Thus, all courses should be added, including year one/Level 1.

To calculate your GPA:
- Add all your individual grade point averages of your registered courses outside of year one.
- Divide the total by the number of registered courses.
- The total point is your GPA

9. What is an Option?
This is where a degree has more than 10 specified/stated courses to be done in the discipline.

10. What is required to transfer to DOMS option?
A B+ average or the corresponding GPA grade point.

11. Do I have to do courses based on the levels e.g. all level one, then level 2 and 3?
No. However, students are advised to do their level 1 courses first as most of those courses are pre-requisites for level 2 & 3 courses. This also avoids time table clashes and often Administrative problems.

12. What is the difference between a pre-requisite, co-requisite and anti-requisite?
- A pre-requisite is a course/s that must be done BEFORE a student moves on to another course.
- A co-requisite must be done CONCURRENTLY with the intending course.
- An anti-requisite is a course that is similar in content to another, thus it CANNOT be done for credit.

14. How do I request exemptions with credit?
- You should apply to the Faculty Office by completing and submitting a request form.
- Along with the request form, submit a copy of Cape results, Transcripts, UWI Academic Record, Course Outlines.
- Once you have obtained the prescribed grade, the Faculty Office will submit to the Academic Board Subcommittee on Student Matters for approval. The Admissions Office will advise you of the Board’s decision in writing.
- If you do not meet the criterion(a), you will advised by the Faculty Office via telephone.
- While applying the criteria will be explained.

15. What is the difference between Exemption and Credit Exemption?
- Â An Exemption is replacing a course with another in order to receive credit.
- Â A Credit Exemption means that you are exempted from doing a particular course and will receive credit.

16. Who is eligible for exams only?
- Finalizing students having a maximum of two (2) failed courses, at a mark less than 35% to complete their programmes.
- Students who are not finalizing and were given Approval Letters from the Examination Office, the Faculty Office(s).

OurVLEÂ (Our Virtual Learning Environment) is the "moodle-based" platform used for Online learning support at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. OurVle features tools such as Forums, Document Sharing, Online Assigment Submission and Online Quizzes.
