INTRODUCTION

In summary, there is a tremendous challenge that all medical educators must embrace in preparing new physicians who will work in the post genomic era of medicine and where individual genome sequences, or at least sections of them, will be part of the medical files they must review. How molecular medicine will be translated into better healthcare will depend on how healthcare professionals and physicians in particular, use and handle this information.

The use of energy drinks has significantly increased in the Caribbean and worldwide as aggressive marketing campaigns target adolescents and young adults. More than 30% of adolescents reported using energy drinks and surveys have revealed that energy drinks are consumed by 30% to 50% of adolescents and young adults (1, 2). In a study in college students, 51% of participants reported consuming greater than one energy drink each month (3).

This issue of the Journal is devoted to HIV/AIDS; a follow-up to the first Special Issue on HIV/AIDS in Adults (1). There have been two productions in Paediatric AIDS (2, 3). There is a wide cross-section of articles on HIV/AIDS in this issue.
