Graduate students are encouraged to make use of the resources of the Social History Project (SHP). These resources include computers, indexes and finding aids. The SHP was established in 1979 to encourage the study of West Indian social history in the period since the abolition of slavery. Below is a list of SHP publications.

ELSA GOVEIA MEMORIAL LECTURES
Each year since 1985 the Department has sponsored special lectures in honour of the late Elsa Goveia, the first Professor of West Indian History in the University of the West Indies. These lectures are regularly published and can be purchased at the Department’s office. Elsa Goveia Lectures are also delivered at the Cave Hill campus.
