Professor Verene Shepherd To Deliver Dame Eugenia Charles Lecture in Dominica

Professor Verene Shepherd, Professor of Social History, UWI, Mona will deliver the Fourth Annual Dame Eugenia Charles Distinguished Lecture on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 7 pm at the Conference Room of the Fort Young Hotel in Roseau, Dominica. The Lecture is titled, “Who Paved the Way for Eugenia Charles? Historicizing Caribbean Women's Political Activism.”
The public lecture series seeks to maintain the memory of a National Hero, Caribbean icon, and first female Prime Minister in the region, Dame Eugene Charles. It will also serve to remind the Dominican population and other Caribbean nationals of the remarkable potential of a citizen who has held her own on the world stage.
