As part of ongoing efforts to improve services to students at The University of the West Indies, the Office of Planning and Institutional Research recently conducted two student experience surveys targeting first degree graduates from the Class of 2008 and first degree registrants in their 1st, 2nd and final year of study at Mona. Entitled “Speak Your Mind”, the surveys solicited the views of students on a range of issues including academic programming, administrative services and support resources.

The results of the surveys will assist administrators in evaluating the programmes and services offered at UWI and determining where interventions are needed to ensure the satisfaction and marketability of UWI graduates.

As an incentive for participation in these surveys, a cash prize of JA$ 50,000 was offered to one winner chosen at random from among First degree graduate participants and a number of tokens were offered to First degree registrant participants.

The winner of the $50,000 cash prize was Ms. Monique Chambers, a graduate of the Faculty of Social Sciences, while more than 20 persons were recipients of prizes consisting of gift certificates, flash drives, and t-shirts for the Student Experience Survey, otherwise known as SYM (Speak Your Mind).
