The UWI's masters degree programme in Telecommunications Policy and Technology Management (TPM) offered by the Mona School of Business, has been rated among the top 200 best masters degree programmes in the world in the Engineering and Project Management Category, from among 12,000 Masters and MBA Programmes in the top 1,000 Business Schools globally. 
 
The TPM Masters received this high ranking from Eduniversal International Scientific Committee, based in France. The global academic adjudicating organization conducted and published its conclusions in a report entitled “Best Masters and MBA Programmes Worldwide for 2011”. It ranked the TPM Masters among the top 200 programmes in the world in the Engineering and Project Management category.  
 
The TPM Masters has been led by UWI's Professor Hopeton Dunn since it was established at MSB in January 2008. The interdisciplinary and rigorous 2-year programme is delivered through a blend of online and face to face methods, which facilitate the inclusion of students from anywhere in the world. Its team of expert lecturers, tutors, administrators are external examiners are drawn from Jamaica, the Caribbean and the wider global academic community. It is delivered by the Telecommunications Policy and Management Programme, a unit in the Mona School of Business which has been supported since its inception by the Digicel Foundation, through a grant allocation to the UWI for an endowed academic Chair.
 
The Eduniversal ranking is based on the reputation of the programme, the salary at 1st employment of the graduates, and the satisfaction of the students gleaned through independent surveys. 
 
Eduniversal's rankings are based on 10-years of experience of ranking Masters Programmes in French Universities. Eduniversal’s International Director, Marie-José Sueiro said the organization decided "to establish a global map of the 4000 best postgraduate programs in 30 specializations in 153 countries and to highlight the expertise of the Best 1000 Academic Institutions.” She continued “The ranking has been initiated with the support of the Eduniversal International Scientific Committee."
 
The TPM Masters programme was established four years ago in an effort to serve the region's burgeoning telecommunications and ICT industry, which require specialised professionals trained at an advanced level in policy, technology and management. To date, two cohorts of students have completed the programme and the newest intake, the third cohort, began their studies in September 2011.
 
TPM Masters students are required to complete eight intensive courses in the business, technology and operational aspects of the ICT sector, including courses in the Economics of the industry, Management of IT and Communications organizations and in the Techniques of Telecommunications Interconnection. Students also have to sit rigorous courses in the Policy, Legal and Regulatory aspects of the ICT sector to global standards. In addition, they must complete an extensive Research Paper on an approved industry-linked topic selected by the students themselves. 
 
The Eduniversal International Scientific Committee congratulated the Mona School of Business (MSB) and the University of the West Indies on this landmark academic achievement for 2011. In announcing the 2011 results, the Committee affirmed its perspective that global higher education will continue to benefit from the provision of complete and reliable information to prospective applicants, such as entailed in the global academic rankings. 
 
The MSB itself has been among Eduniversal's top 1000 business school's over the last four years.
