Sir  Dennis Byron, President of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ), will deliver a public lecture at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus. Sir Dennis’ lecture is the second in the Caribbean Institute of Media and Communication (CARIMAC) Distinguished Lecture Series.

Sir Dennis will address the role of the CCJ and its importance to legal, judicial and economic development in the Caribbean. The event will be attended by more than 100 guests including judges, lawyers, law students, media managers, members of the UWI community and officials from the ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs.

Sir Dennis will also make a special presentation to undergraduate students at CARIMAC. This session will involve an interactive discussion on the CCJ and will culminate in a question and answer segment. He will meet with key UWI officials as well as staff and students of the UWI’s Faculty of Law.

According to CARIMAC’s Director, Professor Hopeton Dunn, the visit by Sir Dennis is part of the Institute’s efforts to engage its students and the media and communication community in discussing important, pertinent and challenging issues that affect their practice and profession.
