Damian Francis

Damian is a nutritionist and PhD Epidemiolgy Candidate in the Epidemiology Research Unit (ERU) at the University of the West Indies(UWI). He is engaged as a Graduate research assistant at the ERU within the Tropical Medicine Research Institute, UWI.

The areas of research in which he is involved include chronic non-communicable disease epidemiology and nutrition.

One of his major foci is on social determinants of childhood and adolescent obesity. Currently, Damian is an Emerging Leader of the Americas (ELAP) scholar on a research fellowship from the Canadian Government to study at the University of Ottawa with the Center for Global Health (CGH). While at the CGH, he is actively involved in a systematic review surrounding nutrition and equity and comparing social determinants of health in Canada and his home country Jamaica.
