Undergraduate Studies

There are two undergraduate courses in environmental (atmospheric) Physics and renewable energy for those interested in global change, climate studies and prediction, climate prediction applications, and alternative or renewable sources of energy. Each is 4 credits and students must have previously passed both  P14A and P14B .

The courses are P33G, Physics of Climate, and P33H, Fluid Dynamics & Renewable Energy.  (Note: These courses replace the previous 8 credit course, P33D, Environmental Physics. Also P23 B is no longer a prerequisite and the only Physics pre-requisites are P14 A and P14 B, along with M08B and M08C, not M10 as listed in the 2001/2002 issue of Regulations and Syllabuses of the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences).

Both P33G, Physics of Climate, and P33H, Fluid Dynamics & Renewable Energy may be combined with other Physics course to gain a major in Physics, specializing in environmental physics. Other physics courses required for the major are  P23E + P23F + P23H + P33G + P33H + either P33J and 4 extra credits or P33E and 8 extra credits, at least 4 from Level III.P33G, Physics of Climate, and P33H, Fluid Dynamics & Renewable Energy may also be taken as part of the Environmental Sciences Option . Please use the link to see the description of courses.

Graduate Studies

For graduates interested in working in the area of climate and renewable energy (e.g., at the Meteorological Office, at the tertiary level) and for teachers seeking to upgrade their qualification, a M.Phil.degree (by research) is available in environmental (atmospheric) physics and renewable energy. Financial assistance is available for some projects.
