Physics Modelling Team leads UWI participation in regional Climate Change and Tourism project.

CARIBSAVE is a regional project examining the impact of climate change on regional tourism. It is a partnership between Caricom (through the Caricom Climate Change Centre) and the University of Oxford. CARIBSAVE just concluded its 2nd Partners Symposium covering its pilot phase, in the Bahamas, in October 2009. The UWI was a collaborator on the project through the Climate Studies Group, Mona which provided future scenarios for Jamaica and the Bahamas from its regional modelling work (also collaborative work with Cuba and Cave Hill).

Three members of the group: Dr. Michael Taylor, Dr. Tannecia Stephenson and Mr. Trevor Hall attended the symposium as well as Dr. John Charlery from UWI, Cave Hill. The collaboration is expected to continue as the project extends to include other Caribbean territories.
