UWI, Mona Launches Weekend Degree Programmes for August 2009

The University of the West Indies, Mona will as of August 2009 provide persons with the option of pursuing select degree programmes on weekends only. UWI, Mona begins its Weekend Degree offerings with two programmes from the Faculty of Social Sciences in August 2009 namely, Bachelor of Science in Management Studies (Accounting) and Bachelor of Science in Banking and Finance. Classes for these programmes will be held on SATURDAYS only.. The Weekend Degree programme will be offered on a part-time basis and takes four years for completion.
UWI Hosts Nursing Midwifery Research Conference and Mary Seivwright Day- May 28-29

The UWI School of Nursing (UWISON), Mona, hosts its annual Nursing Midwifery Research Conference and Mary Seivwright Day from May 28-29, at the School’s Lecture Theatre, UWI, Mona.
The Conference addresses several topics including: adolescent health, health care delivery, health promotion and diabetes. The event is designed to empower nurses, midwives and students across the Caribbean region to use research to develop best practice in nursing and midwifery.

Understanding 'Human Behaviour' Across Many World Cultures

“Understanding 'Human Behaviour' Across Many World Cultures: The Challenge of Cross-cultural Comparison” is the title of the public lecture being hosted by the Departments of Government and Sociology, Psychology and Social Work at UWI, Mona. Professor Walter Lonner, Professor Emeritus of Psychology, Western Washington University will deliver the lecture on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 7:30 pm at the Sociology Conference Room located at the Sir Alister McIntyre Building, UWI, Mona.

The School of Education, UWI, Mona invites applications for the Masters of Arts in Higher Education: Student Personnel Administration. Applications must be made on line at www.mona.uwi.edu/postgrad. The application deadline is May 29, 2009.
Applicants are required to possess a Bachelors degree with honours from an approved institution, be computer literate and meet Faculty requirements.

Mona Team Heads to Trinidad to Participate in UWI Games 2009

UWI, Mona, reigning UWI Games champion, heads to the UWI, St. Augustine Campus, Trinidad on Wednesday, May 20 to participate in the biennial UWI Games. The student Games is rotated among the three main UWI campuses and is scheduled for May 21-28, 2009 at the UWI St Augustine Sport and Physical Education Centre (SPEC), St. Augustine Campus in Trinidad.
The Games will be formally opened on Thursday, May 21, 2009 by Deputy Principal, UWI, St. Augustine, Professor Rhoda Reddock in an official ceremony at the UWI SPEC.

Conference on the Environment

‘Caribbean Environments: Perspectives, Practice and Policy’ is the theme of the regional environmental conference being organised as part of the Environmental Management programme at the UWI, Mona. The Conference is scheduled for July 7-8, 2009 at UWI, Mona.
The Conference seeks to offer a forum in which perspectives and issues surrounding environmental research, practice and the formulation and implementation of policy can be shared and discussed.
