There are four official University Services. the Welcome Service in September, the ,the Carol Service in December, the Commemoration Service in February and the Valedictory Service in April/May. Except for the Carol Service, these Services are held at 9:00 a.m.

The Carol Service - the Festival of Nine Lessons with Carols (and Homily) - is one of the highlights of the University year, when the glorious choir of the University Singers is augmented by a combined student choir, under the baton of the Director of Music, Mr. Noel G. Dexter. This Service is usually held on the second Sunday in December, at 7:00 p.m. and attracts a congregation of several hundred.

Weekly meetings are held by the University and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF) on Thursday afternoons, and by the Universities and Colleges Apostolic Ministry (UCAM) on Friday afternoons, during term. Mass is said on the fifth Sunday at 9:15 a.m. during term for the Roman Catholic Student Fellowship, whose members regularly worship at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Papine. The Seventh-day Adventist Students hold their Advent Fellowship Day on the first or second Saturday in November. Groups of staff and/or students meet in the Chapel from time to time during the lunch hour, for meditation or fellowship.

Commemoration or other Special Services

Students or other eligible groups desirous of commemorating Founders, Faculty, or Independence Days, or any other event, should also request permission for use of the Chapel, even if they wish to participate in one of the regular Sunday morning services:

  1. The Anglican Eucharist at 7:00 a.m.
  2. The Worship Service at 9:15 a.m. is conducted in rotation by the Methodist, United Church, Baptist and Moravian Chaplains
  3. The Worship Service at 11:00 a.m. is conducted by the Pentecostal Chaplain

If the Special Service is to be separate, it can commence no earlier than 11:00 am.

At any such commemorative service one of the Chaplains should normally officiate; and he/she should be fully consulted on the order of service to be followed. The Chaplain's written consent to officiate should be submitted with the application to use the Chapel.
