Masters in Education (summer and online)
Person desirous of pursuing a Masters degree in the School of Education but find it inconvenient to attend regular face-to-face classes at the Mona Campus, now have an additional, flexible modality offered through the Masters Summer and Online programme.
Candidates for admission must qualify under the general university regulations for a master’s degree. As such:
- All candidates must have a first degree at or above the Lower Second Class Honours Level or a grade point average equivalent to a B or above.
- For all programmes, with the exception of the Student Personnel Administration (SPA) programme, candidates MUST have a professional qualification in teaching, for example, a diploma or certificate in Education, or an approved equivalent.
- Full documentation of the applicant’s academic record and referees’ reports must be submitted to the Office of Graduate Studies & Research, Mona in order for the application to be reviewed.
Additionally, applicants must be computer literate, be familiar with the Internet and own an e-mail address. Application forms are available on the UWI’s postgraduate website between November 15 and January 30 each academic year. We look forward to reviewing your application.
All students must successfully complete during the period of five (5) consecutive semesters their nine (9) taught courses and a research project/report . Each semester students do either two or three courses until they have completed the programme.
If for any reason a student has to continue beyond the two-year duration of the programme, the student must continue to pay per credit for those finalizing courses. If you have to repeat a course or re-sit only the examination component or submit the research project/report after the due date, the student will be required to pay additional fees.
*** You can also enter as a Specially Admitted Student. Email or call us to find out more.
