UWI athlete 'Parching' up the Tracks
Caption:Hansle Parchment (right)The World University Games 110m Sprint Hurdles Champion Hansle Parchment has once again lowered his
personal record on the track. Parchment, at the recently concluded Jamaica National Invitational Track and Field meet held at the National Stadium ran a Personal Best of 13.19sec to make his name in history as the third Fastest Jamaican of all times in the event.The 21 year old National Representative went on to dismiss a good field a few days later in the Cayman Island Invitational Track and Field meet in a time of 13.31sec. Parchment was dubbed the "dark horse" of Jamaican Hurdles by local newspaper and is said to be one to watch for, as his current form will see him possibly breaking into the National Squad to the Olympics.

UWI Footballers drafted for National Duties
The University of the West Indies Mona very own scholarship
athlete and Jamaica U23 national representative Andrae Bernal (left) has once again been called upon to lend his skills to the National Squad. This time around however Bernal will be accompanied by his UWI Teammate Dravian Williams (right).The two were summoned by the Jamaica Football Federation to join the National Training Squad for the upcoming match against Guyana schedule to take place on May 18, 2012 in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
The UWI Mona Sports department congratulates them on this fete and wishes them all the success in their endeavor and encourages them to continue to show their Pelican Pride.

UWI Medals at Penn Relays
Caption:Members of the UWI 4*100m relay team along with Coach Jason Dawson and Phsiotherapist Kerry-Lee RickettsThe University of the West Indies Mona copped two medals in the 2012 staging of the Penn Relays. The UWI Pelicans 4x100m male team won the College Men Finals in 39.94sec to cop top honors at this years meet.The team consisted of World University Games 110m Silver medalist Jason Young, David Dunn, Jordan Forte and Kevean Smith. Meanwhile World University Games 110m Gold medalist Hansle Parchment clocked 13.61sec to place second in the 110m hurdles.

The 15 member contingent comprised of UWI Director of Sports; Mr.Dalton Myers, Assistant Sports Coordinator; Rashid Hall, Coach Jason Dawson, Physiotherapist Kerry Lee Richards along with other members of the UWI Track and Field team.
UWI Opens Beach Volleyball/Football Court
Caption:Cutting of the ribbon done by Mr. Dalton Myers- Director of Sports UWI (right) and Mr. Archibald Campbell- Campus Bursar (left)The University of the West Indies Mona Sports Department on Thursday, April 19, 2012 hosted an official press launch and opening ceremony for the UWI Volleyball/Football Court dubbed "UWI Sands."
The facility which is the second of its kind in the entire island includes a 100ft*130ft sand court, two outdoor shower areas, three spectator stands and a large parking lot. The 'UWI Sands' will be the training ground for many national players and UWI Teams alike.
Despite the inclement weather the opening ceremony was one of pure splendor. Specially invited guests and distinguished members of the University community were on hand to witness this momentous occasion.
Special appreciation must be extended to our Sponsors who came on broad to this dream a reality, as we strive to make the UWI Mona Bowl the center of sporting excellence.
