UWI Pelican achieves new Personal Best in Discus

UWI Scholarship athlete and Discus Thrower Oshane Harris achieved a new personal best of 50.06 meters last weekend at the Jamaica College Track Meet held at the National Stadium his second outing for this season.

Harris, whose previous best was 48.09 meters aspires to reach the mid 60s mark and is currently training to achieve that personal goal. "Right now, my coach and I are doing some background work as I want to go the distance."

Harris, also achieved a new personal best of 14.93meters over the weekend at the Morant Bay Track Meet but this time in the Shot put, although he doesn't deem himself a 'shot putter', Harris used the opportunity to develop on skills that would help him to excel in Discus. Harris is down to participate in the Queens/Grace Jackson Track and Field Meet set for this weekend at the National Stadium. Although it is very early in the season Harris is using opportunities like these to put in the necessary ground work to propel him to achieve his goal of competing at the World University Games and to qualify for the World Championships to represent Jamaica.
