Mission Statement

The Mission of the Department of Management Studies at the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies is to be the premier provider of academically-oriented management education within the Caribbean region, and to be a leader in the provision of such education among developing countries.

To this end, in addition to its commitment to managerially-oriented research, the Department seeks to offer a teaching curriculum which will produce students who have well developed analytical and technical capabilities, intellectually adaptive thought processes and an orientation toward life-long learning, allowing them to become effective management and accounting practitioners and researchers.

Understanding Exporting in the Small and Micro Enterprise

The Book Launch for "Understanding Exporting in the Small and Micro Enterprise” authored by Densil A. Williams was held on October 20th, 2009.

The keynote speaker for this event was Hon. Karl Samuda, Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce. The book was launched by Prof. Alvin Wint, Pro Vice Chancellor of OBUS, UWI.

Archibald Campbell elected President of ICAJ

Mr. Archibald Campbell, FCA, M.Sc. was elected President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ) for the year 2009/2010, following the Institute’s 44th Annual General Meeting held on July 29, 2009, at the Knutsford Court Hotel.

Best empirical paper for the ICSB World Conference 2009

Densil Williams accepting awardDr. Densil Williams' and Dr. Derrick Deslandes' empirical research paper; "Internationalization of small, locally owned firms from emerging economies: the role of personal factors" was selected the best empirical paper (from a total of 230 papers)  for the ICSB World Conference 2009 in Seoul.

Mona Team declared champions of FCIB/ UWI Case Analysis Competition

For the third consecutive year, the Mona Team were declared the champions of the First Caribbean International Bank (FCIB) & UWI Inter-Campus Case Analysis Competition held at Mona on June 2nd 2009.
