Andrew Williams

I am a full-time M.Phil. History student in the Department, whose course began in 2022. I am attending the U.W.I., Mona, by virtue of a Study Abroad Studentship awarded by the Leverhulme Trust in the UK. I was born in Scarborough, England, and I have a B.A. (Hons.) in History and Politics from Lancaster University. I also worked for a year in the museum and art gallery of the University of Liverpool.

My thesis research is on eighteenth-century Kingston, Jamaica. My broader interests are in eighteenth-century Caribbean history, British economic history, and Atlantic history. I am a member of the Jamaican Historical Society, Royal Historical Society, and the Association of Caribbean Historians. I have a publication in an English local history journal on an eighteenth-century West Indies merchant.
