Master of Arts (Public History and Caribbean Heritage (New)

The MA in Public History and Caribbean Heritage is designed to provide academic training for persons who wish to work or are already working in the public history and heritage sectors. Students will examine theoretical concerns and acquire practical skills in various aspects of artefact and cultural resource management. The programme will equip students to work in media and communication, tourism, museums and archives, and historic sites, while becoming proficient in the research and writing of commissioned histories and the interpretation of the Caribbean past for public audiences

Entry requirements:

Applicants should normally possess a minimum GPA of 2.5 or a Low- er Second Class Honours degree or its equivalent. Persons with practical experience or relevant qualifications in other disciplines or relevant work experience are also encouraged to apply. All applicants must submit a personal statement of experience and/or research interests.

Duration

The programme is offered part-time and students are expected to complete the programme in two academic years.

Programme

Students are required to complete 36 credits over six semesters (including two summer terms). Credit requirements are as follows: Nine taught courses (27 credits) Five core courses Two departmental electives Two programme electives
