The Department participated in the International Coastal Clean-up Day (ICCD) on Saturday September 17, 2022. Members of the Biology Students Association (BSA) partnered with the Port Royal Marine Laboratory (PRML) to conduct clean-up activities at Sturridge Park along the Palisadoes Coastline. The PRML also conducted under-water clean-up activities at Refuge Cay. The Discovery Bay Marine Laboratory participated in clean-up activities at seven 7 sites (3 underwater in Discovery Bay; 4 land sites- 3 Discovery Bay and 1 Salt Marsh, Trelawny). A total of 109 volunteers (inclusive of staff) participated and over 900 kgs of garbage was collected. Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) provided $125,000 towards this activity.
