Society for Economic Botany President's Award

Congratulations to Dr. Ina Vandebroek (Senior Lecturer, Department of Life Sciences and Senior Research Fellow at the Natural Products Institute (NPI)) and Dr. David Picking (Research Fellow, Natural Products Institute) who were awarded the SEB President's Award at the Joint Meeting of the Society for Economic Botany (SEB) and the International Society of Ethnobiology (ISE), held on May 29 - June 2, 2022 at The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus.  The SEB President's Award is "bestowed by the Society upon an individual on the basis of outstanding accomplishments pertinent to the goals of the Society. It is awarded to exceptional individuals who have demonstrated outstanding service".

Dr. Vandebroek, who is also a long-standing member of the SEB and the current Editor-in-Chief for the society's journal Economic Botany, and Dr. Picking spearheaded the Jamaican leg of the successfully hosted SEB/ISE Joint meeting with delegates from over thirty countries. Drs. Vandebroek and Picking have previously collaborated on a number of activities, including being co-editors of the book, Popular medicinal plants in Portland and Kingston, Jamaica, published in 2020 in the series Advances in Economic Botany by The New York Botanical Garden and Springer.
