Aib-lac

Mona School of Business and Management (MSBM) will host the 14th Annual Conference of the Academy of International Business – Latin America and the Caribbean (AIB-LAC) Chapter, between March 20–22, 2024 at the MSBM and the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. The conference marks the first staging of the event in the Caribbean and is being held under the theme, Rethinking and Reshaping the Role of Business in Creating a more Sustainable and Resilient Latin America and the Caribbean.

The conference is timely, given Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) continues to face increasing economic, ecological, socio-cultural, and geo-political challenges. Addressing these challenges requires strategic responses from all stakeholders, even while there has been a tendency to privilege or prioritize some actors vis-à-vis business. Resilience and sustainability imperatives mandates that we rethink and reshape our understanding of (1) what a sustainable and resilient LAC region is; and (2) the role that businesses play in advancing progress towards this future. The 2030 agenda has added impetus to the need for greater attention to LAC businesses and an interrogation of their role in the region’s sustainability. Achieving greater resilience involves combining both local and global knowledge to create best practices; it is about making the whole society more competitive, more productive, more adaptive, and more inclusive with businesses playing a pivotal role in mobilizing resources and prompting action.

To advance our knowledge base of all aspects of business and identification of best practices for promoting a resilient and sustainable future within the region and beyond, the AIB-LAC community will gather to exploit existing and new methods of analysis. In so doing, the conference will address themes such as Internationalization Strategies and Processes; Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) in International Business; Innovation, Technology, and Supply Chains; International Entrepreneurship, Social Entrepreneurship, and Family Business; International Marketing and Consumer Analytics; International HRM, Global Leadership, and Diversity; and Creating a More Sustainable and Resilient Latin America and the Caribbean.

Over 200 delegates from Jamaica, the Caribbean and Latin America, as well as, Europe, USA, Canada, Africa, and beyond are expected to be in attendance. Participants will therefore, have an opportunity to meet and network with delegates from the LAC region, the Diaspora and beyond, offering an opportunity for local businesses to expand their regional and global contacts.
