Synopsis: 
This paper focussed on the detection of TCR Vα and TCR Vβ skewness of patients with Type 1 diabetes. In the results, we found that there were skewed genes in the TCR Vα and TCR Vβ. In our opinion, these skewed genes are probably relative to the onset of Type 1 diabetes.

A 25-year Association of Rainfall and Temperature Anomalies with Type 1 Diabetes Incidence in Caribbean Children

Synopsis: 
This study identified an epidemic increase of Type 1 diabetes cases in 2006-2007 among children in the US Virgin Islands. From 1980 to 2005, Type 1 diabetes epidemics occurred in children when above normal rainfall combined with below normal temperature.

ABSTRACT

Objective: To determine if rainfall and temperature anomalies are associated with epidemics of Type 1 diabetes among children in the US Virgin Islands.

Hearing Evaluation in Children with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus

Synopsis: 
The study investigated the hearing functions of children with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus. Tympanogram, pure tone audiogram, and transient evoked otoacoustic emission tests were performed to all subjects. According to the PTA results, mean hearing threshold values were found significantly higher in children with Type 1 diabetes compared to the control group. We recommend that Type 1 diabetic children should be kept under monitoring in terms of hearing functions.

ABSTRACT

Objective: Diabetes is a metabolic syndrome characterized by hyperglycemia deriving from a defect in insulin secretion, insulin effect, or both. Varying levels of hearing loss may occur in patients with Type 1 diabetes. The purpose of this study was to investigate the hearing functions of children with Type 1 diabetes mellitus. At the same time, we also intended to examine the relationship between hearing loss and age at onset of diabetes, duration of diabetes and HbA1c levels.
